Two people died and over 100 people were injured in Spain in the celebrations that followed the country's first ever World Cup win, local officials said on Monday.
In south-western Spain, a man died on Sunday night after falling from a veranda, said a spokesman for the representative of Spain's central government in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
The other death came from the city of the western province of Extremadura, when a member of a group of people that jumped into a municipal swimming pool to celebrate Spain's win drowned.
I think that even though it is a glorious event to celebrate Spain's win of the World Cup, the celebrations by the fans went overboard, resulting in unnecessary injuries and even deaths. This gives us a reminder to always know that everything done must have a limit, or else the consequences may be dire.
